J/D Ficathon X: Sign-Up Post

So, how does this work?
~ Comment here to sign up. Assignments will be sent out via e-mail. Stories will be due 14 October. However, if you finish early, you can post and I'll leave your story in the moderation queue until the day the ficathon opens.
~ Keep your assignment secret until the deadline. We do suggest you get a beta, though.
~ If you have any questions about your assignment, contact melayneseahawk, not the person you're writing for.
~ Stories must be at least 1000 words, but there is no upper limit.
~ Feel free to post either in the comm, or somewhere else and link to it. More details about posting will be up closer to the deadline.
~ You need to join the comm if you are planning on participating. All members have immediate posting access; posting is moderated so that the fic will all go live the same day.

Crossposting Policy
~ Please sign up once, on only Livejournal or Dreamwidth. It does not matter which; all entries will be mixed together, so you may wind up writing for someone on either platform.
~ Stories may be hosted on Livejournal, Dreamwidth, Archive of Our Own, or any other website. Stories may be hosted on more than one site, but please provide all links.
~ You may announce your story on either jd_ficathon, jd_ficathon, or both.
~ Once posting has begun, a Master Post of all stories will be created and posted to both Livejournal and Dreamwidth, so no matter where you post, everyone will be able to see it.

Defaulting, Dropping, and Extensions:
~ In the interests of general sanity and ease of organization, I will be creating a ban list. If you drop out without telling me, you will be banned from participation for the following year. If you swear they're going to post and then disappear, you will be banned from participation for the following year.
~ To keep this from happening, please keep me informed. If you're going to need a few extra days, just ask for them. If something comes up and you can't complete the ficathon, just tell me. I understand that real life can get in the way of our fandom lives, but a quick e-mail will be more than enough to let me know that you're not just flaking on me.

Sign-Up Form
The sign-up form is split into different categories, to make it easier to match people up. You can specify two things that must be in your story, and one optional thing that you'd like to be in your story.

Your two requirements should be limited to:

a prompt: a setting (examples: "an ice planet at night", "a plane trip to D.C.", "the Land of Light"), an object (ex.: "a letter", "a dog", "a new car"), a line of dialogue (ex.: "And then I shot her!"), and so on. Try to keep these fairly broad - you can be as specific as you like with your optional request.
an episode or season: for example, "Beneath the Surface" or "season 5"
a genre: action/adventure, angst, established relationship, first time, humor, hurt/comfort, sap, smarm, etc.
a rating: for our purposes, following the MPAA system, so G through NC-17

For your optional request, you can be as specific as you like (e.g., "Jack and Daniel are stranded on an ice planet and Teal'c and Vala come to the rescue, but only after Jack tells Daniel a deep dark secret"), but keep in mind that the writer won't be obligated to include that request in your story. The following things are very difficult to match up, and thus, should be under optional requests only: het, underage sex, mpreg, non-con, and major focus on other characters.

Restrictions should be things you absolutely don't want in your story. You can specify up to two.

If you only want to fill out the requirement field, that's fine; you don't have to specify optional requests or restrictions.

As for the assignment you'll receive: please at least specify the maximum rating you'll write. You can write an actual rating here, or just "I'll write anything," "no sex whatsoever," "fade to black only," and so on. You can also list up to three specific things you won't write. If you've only seen up to a certain season, haven't seen earlier seasons, haven't seen the movie, etc., please make sure to note that, so I don't accidentally match you up with a season-specific request you can't write.

Note: If you give me more than three things you won't write, I'll only look at the first three; if you give me more than two requirements, I'll only give your author the first two, and so on. (I apologize if that sounds overly restrictive, but people go over every year, and that makes it difficult to match them up. Please stick to the limits.)

Two (2) Requirements: 1. A plot set after Daniel descends in Season 7. How do Jack and Daniel react to Daniel being back? What has changed? How do they reconnect? This is one of the most underplayed things in canon, whether you ship these two or not, and I love reading about this time in the team's history.

2. Some kind of action plot alongside the romance plot would be great -- either woven into an episode, or a mission that we don't see in canon. AUs are fine too.

Optional Request: Can be a first-time or a "Daniel remembers they were together", or even a "Jack tries to put the relationship behind them but Daniel remembers and spoils his plan." Either they get together for the first time, or they were together before but Daniel forgot (or any twist on that), is fine with me.

Restriction #1: No Sam-bashing
Restriction #2: No Dumb!Jack
