Now that the prompts have been posted, it's time for the claiming and then the fic-writing and/or art-making portion of the promptathon! Deadline is August 1!
Starting now, go to this post and reply to the comment that contains the prompt you want to create for. Simply post a reply saying "This one's mine for a fic" or something similar. First come, first served.
(It is actually okay with me if more than one person claims a particular prompt. It would be ideal if that did not happen, but if you absolutely have your heart set on a certain prompt and you are not first, that's okay. But doublecheck all the other prompts first! Maybe you can take your second choice? But if you simply must have that certain prompt, that's okay.)
(It is okay to claim your own prompt.)
If someone has claimed a prompt for a fic, and you want to do a vid or a piece of artwork for it, no problem at all. Go for it. That is awesome and that is the intention of having an all-fanworks type of promptathon.
Fic must be a minimum of 500 words.
Fanworks based on these prompts should be posted as a stand-alone post to this community on AUGUST 1. Please wait until then to post. Join the community to get posting access.
You can post just an announcement with a link here, or the entire work. If you want to post here, and at your own space and at the Archive of Our Own, or any combination thereof, that's awesome.
If July rolls along and you find you have to bow out, please reply to your original prompt comment, as you did when you claimed, to let us know you won't be finishing.
After Aug. 1, I'll give everyone a few days to post, then declare the event over for this year. I will then make a masterpost of everything and post it here to close out the event.
(I am technologically incapable of creating a subcollection at the AO3 for this year; if someone knows how to do that, please volunteer!)
When you post your announcement or your fic here, use this format:
Subject Line: Fic: Story Title
Title:
Author:
Summary:
Word Count:
Rating:
Disclaimer:
Prompt (include the author of the prompt):
Notes:
Please use MPAA ratings. Use your own judgment on how your story should be rated.
Stories should be tagged by author, genre, rating, and season. Use the tags provided. If the tag you need isn't there, drop us a note and an admins will make it for you.
Example:
Subject Line: Fic: Misunderstanding
Tags: author:melayneseahawk, genre:action/adventure, genre:romance, rating:nc-17, season:any
Title: Misunderstanding
Author: melayneseahawk
Summary: You're a much better damsel in distress than Carter. I guess it's because you have more practice.
Word Count: 3193 words
Rating: NC-17 (graphic m/m sex)
Disclaimer: Not mine.
Prompt: Action/ adventure, the rest of the team should be involved in the plot line to some degree; Higher end rating, angst.
Notes: Many, many thanks to trelkez for the extension, and to starkravingsane, brainofck, and theemdash for the beta-reading, for without them this fic would ne'er have seen the light of day.

Use your own judgment and current typical conventions for your metadata when you post a piece of art, photo of a craft, vid, etc.
If you have questions, email me at princessofgeeks at hotmail, message me through Dreamwidth, or comment on a current post at my own DW journal.
Thanks to

Date: 2019-06-24 10:26 pm (UTC)If you go to the new collection page on the archive, you'll see there's a 'Parent Collection' field where you can just type in 'jd_ficathon'. It will add the new collection you make to the ficathon as a subcollection. Let me know if that was confusing or you need any help!

Date: 2019-07-02 01:45 am (UTC)I am truly not able to do anything with the AO3 connection to the ficathon. It's just one thing too many for me. If you would like to help set that up, I can ask at my journal for the people who ran that in the past to get in touch with you and give you admin accesses; I think it might have been magnavox_23? Or maybe Eleidh? I can't remember.
With my summer schedule it's all I can do to work on the promptathon here on DW, so if you would like to help that would be great!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Date: 2019-07-29 07:45 pm (UTC)It looks like most of the 2017 fics were posted as gifts, and looking back through the years even ones people archived late tend to be listed as gifts to the matched recipient.
