Please comment on this post if you are looking for a beta, or if you would like to offer your services as a beta! You do not need to be a member of the community to comment here.
(A "beta" or "beta reader" is fandom's term for a volunteer editor or copy editor. The scope of what beta readers do for writers can vary greatly -- be sure not to assume your beta or your writer knows what is wanted or what is on offer. Be specific with each other to avoid misunderstanding or even hurt feelings. And be very clear with each other on the time frames. If you, the writer, need the story back in a few days, say so. If the beta won't be able to get to it for X number of days, say so. It's all about the communication.)
(Also, many writers also do beta work -- if there's a writer whose input you think you would benefit from, it's never out of line to simply ask them if they are available as a beta. They might not have time, but I can almost guarantee they won't mind being asked.)

(PS... don't forget the After Party -- related fanworks with our stories as inspiration can be posted to or announced in this community starting July 27 through Sept. 7. All the writers have given permission for complementary works to be made.)
